CZH home = accueil
Canadian Zen Haiku as has successfully traversed the first three years of its publication as an e-zine.    CZH’s mandate has always been to publish the widest array of international haiku in as many languages as we can,  including, amongst others: English, French, Japanese Romanji (Latinized script), Spanish, Tagalog (Filipino), and several others besides, with a view to mirroring as faithfully as possible the finely shaded literary nuances of the world’s diverse cultures and societies.    We believe we have by and large fulfilled our mission.    CZH has espoused not only the tried-and-proven traditions of classical haiku forms, but has also enthusiastically embraced recent developments in the haiku genre, as well as novel experiments with the form which have surfaced since the advent of the Internet.

Canadian Zen Haiku canadien’s repertoire of haijin includes many poets whose international reputation is already well established, folks like Serge Tome of Belgium, Lanie Shanzyra Rebancos of the Philippines, Robin Ouzman Hislop of the UK, and Deborah P. Kolodji of the USA.

But the day eventually comes when it is time to move on, and we trust that time is now.  As many of you probably realize already, this is the last issue of CZH as an e-zine.  Beginning with Vol. 4 no 1, winter 2006, Canadian Zen Haiku canadien ISSN 1705-4508, will be published as a quarterly journal in print.   CZH will continue to feature haijin from all over the world, writing their haiku in their own native languages.   Haiku published in languages other than English or French will feature parallel English translations.

But there is more.   While we will be taking Canadian Zen Haiku canadien offline off the Internet and publishing it in print only, we will be complementing CZH with our brand new e-zine,

Canadian Haiku Illustrated illustrés

which will also be published quarterly, simultaneously with CZH.    Canadian Haiku Illustrated illustrés will feature photo and art haiku created by the members of our new haiku group by the same name, at this link:

If you enjoy creating photo or art haiku, please feel free to join our new illustrated haiku group by clicking on its banner above.

Each quarterly issue of Canadian Haiku Illustrated illustrés (CHI) will be illustrated with at least 25 photo or art haiku by haijin from various nations.    Since CHI is to be solely an online e-zine, it will always be free.    Still, while everyone anywhere in the world with access to the Internet will be able to read CHI at leisure, only paying subscribers to our new quarterly, Canadian Zen Haiku canadien ISSN 1705-4508, will be able to read the haiku in its pages.    Each issue of CZH will probably feature at least 120 haiku, plus an in depth editorial on the genesis of haiku, classical, contemporary and experimental.
